Overview

Abacus Technology is seeking a Work Area Supervisor to provide daily oversight, scheduling and technical guidance for represented team members.  These members provide direct technical support of radio and telecommunication systems for the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) at Arnold AFB.  This is a full-time position.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct multi-discipline craft activities within a radio and telecommunications support to ensure work is executed properly and safely.
  • Work with technicians and area management to develop work plans and resource requirements, assign work, track work progress to ensure work stays on schedule and within allocated estimates and ensure work executed is performed per applicable safety, engineering, housekeeping and environmental standards as described in work packages and work instructions. 
  • Ensure assigned staff compliance with Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
  • Ensure staff is trained and maintains qualifications required to perform job duties.
  • Oversee conflict resolution among employees, counseling/disciplining personnel for performance issues and non-conformance of company policies and procedures. 
  • Lead team safety meetings, monitor craft housekeeping and safety practices while ensuring that the workplace follows all AEDC, Abacus, and OSHA standards.
  • Investigate accidents/incidents, complete accident reports, and assure that proactive steps are taken to prevent similar type accidents/incidents in the future.
  • Manage craft overtime (OT) process and maintain proper OT list differential in accordance with the CBA.
  • Ensure staff wears proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

5+ years of relevant experience in a project or task supervisory role directly overseeing industrial / represented staff.  Demonstrated leadership ability and good communication skills are required.  Experience in a technical field including hands-on experience providing support to radio or telecommunications systems.  Experience planning projects and assigning resources as necessary to ensure project is completed within schedule.  Understanding of union jurisdictional lines.  Demonstrated skills for motivating, communicating, and directing employees daily.  Must have the necessary people skills and attitude to fully embrace and support the company position on safety.  Proficient with MS Office.  Able to plan, organize, lead and monitor a wide variety of team efforts to their successful conclusion.  Able to anticipate change and to adjust promptly and effectively.  Must be detail oriented and maintain documentation related to projects.  Able to develop reports and provide briefings to program and government management.  Able to work independently and as part of a team communicating efficiently with all levels of an organization.  Must be a US Citizen and hold a Secret clearance.
