Overview

Abacus Technology is seeking a Communications Supervisor to support the telecommunications and network teams providing technical support for the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) at Arnold AFB.  This is a full-time position.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Telecommunications Lead in guiding a team of inside plant and outside plant technicians to install, operate, and maintain the copper, fiber, and coaxial infrastructure supporting the AEDC complex. 
  • Design and document new and/or updated inside and outside plant cable infrastructure to include conduit, cable trays, copper, coax, fiber and all associated elements on AEDC using commercial best practice procedures, standards and/or provide Engineering Installation Plans (EIPs) required for installation of outside plant cables and underground infrastructure. 
  • Work with the Telecommunications Lead to oversee a staff of network specialists providing front line technical support for a variety of technical issues.

Qualifications

3+ years experience in telecommunications and network infrastructure, facility design, and installation, including experience in a supervisory or lead position.  Bachelor’s degree in a related field desired.  Must be Security+ CE certified (or hold an equivalent certification in compliance with DoD 8570 IAT II).  BICSI and/or Avaya certifications desired.  Must be well versed in BICSI rules, regulations, and standards.  Must have extensive experience developing layout and design for technology systems including voice, data, and structured cabling.  Experience developing layout and design for outside plant infrastructure systems.  Strong knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and industry standards and practices regarding the installation and maintenance of outside plant infrastructure.  Solid knowledge of NEC, IEEE, EIA, TIA, industry standards and other applicable codes related to the design and layout of IT, low voltage and telecommunications systems.  Must be a US citizen and hold a current Secret clearance.
