Overview

Abacus Technology is seeking a Database Administrator to manage and support information systems for the Command, Control, Communication, Intelligence and Networks (C3I&N) Directorate at Lackland AFB.  This is a full-time position.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, implement, and administer information systems for the acquisition, storage, and retrieval of data.
  • Analyze and recommend data requirements and specifications.
  • Design, normalize, develop, install, and implement databases.
  • Maintain, monitor, performance tuning, backup, and recovery of databases.
  • Install, configure, and maintain database management systems software.
  • Analyze and plan for anticipated changes in data capacity requirements.
  • Develop and administer data standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Develop and implement data mining and data warehousing programs.
  • Evaluate and provide recommendations on new database technologies and architectures.
  • Ensure the rigorous application of information security/cybersecurity policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of data management services.
  • Perform Microsoft SharePoint administration duties.
  • Provide technical support for the SharePoint environment including assessment and implementation of new capabilities. Duties may include:
    • Configuring SharePoint services and settings.
    • Documenting SharePoint configuration and architecture.
    • Managing site quotas and file size limits.
    • Reviewing and monitoring usage reports.
    • Managing content databases and creating new ones as required.
    • Administering and maintaining sites.
    • Managing site layout structure and content.
    • Providing SharePoint support to end users.

Qualifications

12+ years experience in database administration and management including at least 5 years in a DoD environment.  Bachelor’s degree in a related field.  Additional years of experience may be substituted for degree requirements.  Experience with Oracle or SQL Server database and application server administration.  Experience with projecting long-range requirements for database administration in conjunction with other managers in the information systems function as well as business function managers.  Must have good communication skills and an ability to conceptualize experience within database relationships using diagrams and explain how databases interact with one another.  Able to work independently or as part of a team and interact professionally within all levels of an organization.  Must be a US citizen and hold a current Top Secret clearance with SCI access (TS/SCI).
