Overview

Abacus Technology is seeking a Technical Writer to provide documentation support to technical projects for Fort Johnson.  This is a full-time position.

Responsibilities

  • Create, revise, and maintain technical and administrative documentation, including reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, and related publications.
  • Ensure that all materials are clear, concise, and adhere to established standards for order, style, and terminology.
  • Collaborate with supervisors, senior writers, and technical staff to gather information, verify details, and produce high-quality deliverables.
  • Develop and revise standardized technical documentation, including manuals, reports, and proposals.
  • Ensure document deliverables are free from spelling, grammar, and content errors.
  • Organize and complete writing assignments based on set standards for clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.
  • Access and integrate information from manufacturers' catalogs, drawings, blueprints, sketches, and other relevant data.
  • Maintain records and files of work and revisions, selecting visual aids such as photographs, diagrams, and charts to illustrate material.
  • Assist in layout and publication preparation, coordinating typing, duplication, and distribution of materials.
  • Draft speeches, articles, and public or employee relations releases as needed.

Qualifications

3+ years experience in a technical writing role.  Bachelor’s degree in a related field.  Strong attention to detail with excellent spelling, grammar, and content review skills.  Able to organize complex information into clear, concise, and readable documentation.  Proficient in using technical resources such as catalogs, drawings, blueprints, and sketches.  Experience in MS Office or Microsoft 365.  Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task, and able to work independently and with a team.  Must have good communications skills and the ability to work professionally with all levels of an organization.  Must be a US citizen and hold a current Secret clearance.
