Overview

Abacus Technology is seeking an OSP Technician to install, remove, and relocate common telephone systems equipment for Fort Campbell.  This is a full-time position.

Responsibilities

  • Splice, terminate, and test fiber optic cable to meet job requirements.
  • Perform cabling, power, grounding of various types of equipment and hardware using proper tools and safety practices.
  • Prepare cable, fiber or switchboard or power for terminations.
  • Perform cabling, ironwork, wiring, basic splicing functions, cable and lead verification.
  • Install, remove, or relocate various common telecommunication equipment.

Qualifications

3+ years experience in telecommunications infrastructure and installation.  Must be BICSI Installer II Copper and Fiber (INST-C/INST-F) certified.  Must be trained in OSHA Confined Space, basic bucket truck operations, ladder safety, aerial and scissor lift safety, GPS, and cable location.  Experience installing, maintaining, and repairing OSP cable systems to include O&M of copper, coaxial, and fiber optic cabling (aerial, buried, direct buried, and underground), protected terminals, grounding systems, manhole and conduit systems, connectors, and distribution frames as well as, terminating, splicing, locating, marking, testing, tagging, and cross-connecting cable pairs.  Must be well versed in BICSI rules, regulations, and standards.  Experience developing layout and design for outside plant infrastructure systems.  Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and industry standards and practices regarding the installation and maintenance of outside plant infrastructure.  Must be a US citizen and hold a current Secret clearance.
