  • Overview

    Abacus Technology is seeking a Database Engineer to provide technical support for the USAFE Network Control Center at Ramstein AFB.  This is a full-time position.

    Responsibilities

    Design and implement the technical infrastructure relating to databases.  Perform database utility functions and daily maintenance.  Monitor database and application availability and performance.  Provide maintenance and support of the Windows development and test application environments.  Implement database, code, and script changes in the production environment.  Install new releases of MS Structure Query Language (SQL) Server based applications.  Troubleshoot application issues related to database access.  Back up support for Progress database application environment.  Provide and be able to execute Database recovery procedures.

    Qualifications

    3+ years experience in a database management and administration role.  Bachelor’s degree in a related field.  Additional work experience and certifications may be substituted for degree requirements.  Must be Security+ certified (or hold another certification in compliance with DoD 8570 IAT II).  Able to develop a thorough understanding of the customer’s mission needs and be knowledgeable of the hardware and software capabilities and limitations supporting that functional system.  Able to communicate with management, technical staff, and end users in a clear and professional manner.  Excellent oral and written communication skills.  Must be a US citizen and hold a current Secret clearance.
