  • Overview

    Abacus Technology is seeking a Sr. Software Developer to provide full life cycle support for various internal development products, projects, and government contracts.  This is a full-time position.

    Responsibilities

    Full-stack user- and customer-centric development across the development lifecycle from requirements definition through system deployment and sustaining engineering.  Lead or participate in efforts to analyze and define functional system requirements based on an understanding of business requirements; design and refine software applications; translate specifications into code; and troubleshoot and debug systems.  Stack includes: UI/UX (esp. of web-based UI), system and database interfaces, business and workflow logic, and data and database definition and administration.  Follow industry best practices and corporate policies regarding software engineering for the full life cycle software development (DevOps), including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.  Develop software and related documentation.  Prioritize and clearly communicate risks and tradeoffs in design, build, and operations decisions.  

    Qualifications

    6+ years’ experience in system analysis and software development.  Bachelor’s degree in a related field.   Experience with MS technology stack including: .NET languages and frameworks, Visual Studio, MS SQL Server, MS TFS.  Familiar with ColdFusion and related tools.  Experience with multiple development methodologies, esp. Agile or Agile-like.  Must have an in-depth understanding of each stage of the software development and project life cycle.  Able to interact with customers and end users to identify and document requirements.  Familiar with CMMI and Project Management documentation and practices.  Experience with professional software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle.  Able to work alone or as part of a team working collaboratively with business and technical stakeholders and customers.  Adaptable, self-critical, good communications skills (oral and written), curious, with a strong desire to learn.  Able to demonstrate a consistent track record of on-time delivery of high-quality work products.  Must be willing to continually update job knowledge by staying abreast of:  development tools, frameworks, and packages; programming techniques; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; and participating in professional organizations.  Must be a US citizen.
