Abacus Technology is seeking an Engineering Tech to support the multimedia team on the COMIT program at Johnson Space Center. This is a paid internship requiring approximately 30 hours/week.
Install and perform maintenance on electronic equipment. Repair and troubleshoot to board level, electronic equipment including but not limited to; short haul fiber optic devices, video tape machines, isochronous routers, baseband processing equipment. Support complex system installations.
2 years experience in electronic repairs and maintenance. Associate’s degree in a related field. Military experience or training a plus. Must be familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Knowledge of IP routing in point-to-point configuration is a plus. Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Able to write routine reports and correspondence. Able to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees. Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and reach, climb, balance, kneel, crouch, or crawl as necessary. Must be able to work in a variety of environments and weather conditions. Must be a US citizen.
