Abacus Technology is seeking a System Engineer to provide technical support for the Command, Control, Communication, Intelligence and Networks (C3I&N) Directorate at Lackland AFB. This is a full-time position.
Establish Cross Domain Solution acquisition and sustainment planning and execution, SME and 1067 support for the various projects, systems, and tools developed via the Cyber Operations program. Provide disciplined systems engineering and technical support using established government, contractor, and industry processes that encompass the practices and requirements for the acquisition and technical management of AF Cyber Weapons Systems. Refine operational requirements with ops community, providing input into Cyber Needs Forms, AF Form 1067, and Course of Action Development. Attend and support technical discussions/meetings both internally and externally to system/program/project, providing SME systems engineering support to government analyses, development and analysis of options, and recommended solutions with in-depth technical justification and background. Assist and support the planning of training and sustainment concepts for rapidly procured systems – systems developed by contractors and/or those developed through various Research & Development (R&D) labs. Support and attend in-plant and onsite Technical Interchange Meetings with prime/support contractors/R&D labs. Plan and coordinate fielding requirements with site representatives and tool/system/project developer(s). Assist in the development and interpretation of reliability and maintainability metrics for sustainment meetings (if required). Monitor fielded performance and work to evaluate trending data.
7+ years experience including in-depth experience in a system engineering or analysis role. Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Thorough understanding of application software, operating systems, networks, storage platforms, and how they relate to system architecture. Experience with Radiant Mercury and/or Hardware Wall. Experience working on each stage of the system development life cycle from initiation through deployment/sustainment. Demonstrated proficiency with process modeling and developing workflow diagrams. Able to elicit and interpret requirements and translate to technical specifications/system design following best practices and design patterns. Able to communicate with management, technical staff, and end users in a clear and professional manner. Experience with engineering practices, techniques, and standards. Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to develop and present technical presentations. Able to represent complex data in diagrams or through other techniques that communicate precise information to both business and technical staff. Proven ability to understand the strategic and tactical approach to projects and handle multiple projects concurrently. Must be a US Citizen and hold a current Top Secret clearance with SCI.
