Abacus Technology is seeking a Network Engineer to provide network and infrastructure support for the Joint Training and Experimentation Network (JTEN) at Fort Bragg. This is a full-time position.
Install and configure network switching devices. Create and maintain Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs) in support of JTEN requirements. Plan, prepare, implement, install, operate and maintain JTEN ingress/egress network connectivity to the (ICAN). Update and apply Brocade operating system patches and software enhancements. Apply and maintain appropriate Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) STIG configurations for various Network Switching Devices. Monitor and maintain networking switch security log files for 1 year. Install and configure General Dynamics Keying Generator (KG-175D) and/or KG-175A network encryption devices to include updating Communications Security (COMSEC) keys. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair any network issues or problems related to network connectivity to include associated VLAN, Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS), or Virtual Protocol Label Switching (VPLS) related problems. Attend working groups and architectural design meetings for proposed changes to the JTEN network architecture on Fort Bragg. Make recommendations and propose change to improve network performance of the JTEN network on Fort Bragg. Directly support and be primary point of contact for all JTEN network exercise requirements on Fort Bragg to include exercise planning teleconferences, meetings, and exercise daily updates.
6+ years experience in a network administration role. Must be Security+ certified. Must be BCNE or CCNA certified or be able to obtain within 6 months of hire date. Hands-on experience with physical network infrastructure (switches, routers). Experience with network implementation and maintenance. Knowledge of Cisco or Brocade routers and switches. Familiar with VLANs and VPLS. Experience with STIGs and COMSEC equipment. Able to maintain current knowledge and skills through in-services, workshops, and/or seminars. Demonstrate flexibility in adjusting to variable workload and job duties. Experience leading teams to accomplish daily tasks and long term projects. Able to interact professionally with all levels of an organization. Must be a US citizen and hold a current Top Secret clearance.
