  • Overview

    Abacus Technology is seeking a Technical Document Specialist to support quality review, editing, and document control for technical documents.  This is a full-time position.

    Responsibilities

    Collaborate with stakeholders and program staff to support the generation of complex documents and managing document change control.  Proofread portions of technical content to ensure they are free of errors.  Ensure consistency of expression, readability, appropriate formatting; conformity to grammar, punctuation, and spelling errors; and style to customer standards.  Work with technical team, subject matter experts, and stakeholders to ensure that the final product meets expectations and properly conveys the message to the appropriate audience.  Develop, update, and maintain necessary process documentation.  Assist technical writers in editing complex and text heavy material, making it more concise, compelling, and engaging for end users.  Track projects and deliverables.  Manage and maintain a comprehensive library of technical knowledge articles to ensure relevance and accuracy for the technical team.   

    Qualifications

    6+ years experience providing documentation support for technical or engineering programs.  Bachelor’s degree in a related field.  Able to translate technical concepts into plain language for both technical and non-technical audiences.  Must have strong oral and written communication skills.  Able to exercise judgement in determining sensitive or proprietary data for our program and to be consistent in proper markings and templates.  Advanced skills using MS Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.  Able to graphically illustrate concepts like data flow, network configuration, support processes, etc. using MS Visio or similar software.  Experience with Configuration Management documentation and version control procedures.  Experience in working with software help files preferred.  Must demonstrate superior attention to detail.  Able to find and correct errors in formatting, spelling, punctuation, grammar, consistency, clarity, and accuracy.  Excellent organizational, time management and communication skills.  Experience working on live documents (SharePoint) with multiple users.  Able to work independently or as part of a team and interact professionally within all levels of an organization.  Must be a US citizen and hold a current TS/SCI with CI Poly.
