Abacus Technology is seeking a Network Engineer to provide infrastructure support for the Command, Control, Communication, Intelligence and Networks (C3I&N) Directorate at Lackland AFB. This is a full-time position.
Review and analyze computer systems. Review and analyze advanced information technology processing techniques. Review and analyze computer networks. Review and analyze security features of computer networks. Review and analyze critical software/hardware interfaces. Review and analyze reliability and availability of systems. Review and analyze database and information systems methodologies. Review and analyze performance evaluation and optimization. Review and analyze design requirements. Review and analyze test requirements. Engineer solutions for requirements such as the Remote Alternate Operating Location for C3MS, replace C3MS' Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, Virtualization SAN Suite and create a Virtual SAN Suite on JWICS. Review and analyze C3MS network infrastructure and recommend / design solutions to reduce network vulnerabilities and improve internal defenses in support of the Internal Defensive Measures 1067 requirement while improving end-user performance of the system.
7+ years experience in network engineering. Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Work related certifications are a plus. Experience in all phases of the engineering lifecycle including: requirements; architecture; design; implementation; testing; and operations and maintenance. Thorough knowledge of routers, switches, and firewalls. Must have knowledge of Cisco routing technologies such as LISP, OTV, VPLS and Nexus 7000 operating systems. Able to assess infrastructure, identify areas for improvement, and recommend solutions. Able to provide technical guidance and direction to system administrators and help desk technicians. Knowledge of relevant server-side tools and technologies. Experience with network monitoring and management using an automated solution. Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining servers and desktops in an enterprise organization. Extensive experience with security as it pertains to network architecture, desktops, laptops, servers, firewalls, routers, and intrusion detection systems (IDS). Solid customer service and communication skills are critical as well as the ability and willingness to communicate effectively and appropriately in an empathetic and understanding manner. Must be a US citizen and hold a current Top Secret clearance with SCI access.
