  • Overview

    Abacus Technology is seeking a Technical Manager to lead all levels of engineers for the Network Infrastructure Support Services (NISS) program at the Social Security Administration (SSA).  This is a full-time position. 

    Responsibilities

    Lead all levels of engineers in organizing, supporting and completing projects.  Provide technical directions for all levels of engineers in all areas of tasks associated with this contract from research phase through implementation and maintenance.  Plan, direct, and coordinate the activities of assigned personnel and must review work of engineers in order to oversee and recognize deficiencies and implement effective solutions.  Serve as the Contractor’s technical point-of-contact for program operations and must keep the Program Manager informed of the current status of projects and engineering efforts.  Serve as the liaison between the engineers and the Program Manager, and work directly with SSA managers in charge of the components requesting support services.  Maintain an in-depth knowledge of SSA’s network, standards, and practices.  Provide guidance on creating product roadmaps and release plans.

    Qualifications

    6+ years experience hands-on network engineering experience.  Bachelor’s degree in a related field.  Must be PMP and CCNP certified.  Must have experience in a large multi-center data environment consisting of at least 40,000 devices.  Must have demonstrable experience in presenting product concepts to senior leaders through presentations.  Experience managing Product Managers and equivalent professionals desired.  Experience creating training plans and curriculums desired.  Able to interface with senior leadership and manage, train, and communicate with cross functional teams.  A Pragmatic Product Manager Certification is a plus.  Must be able to prioritize and react to changing requirements with a sense of urgency.  Capable of envisioning the big-picture at an enterprise level, and the drive to make that vision a reality.  Knowledge of big data and analytics products desired.  Demonstrated negotiating and customer interfacing skills a plus.  Strong problem-solving capabilities evidenced by a proven ability to quantitatively and qualitatively analyze product concepts, strategic opportunities and competitive threats.  Prior Federal Government/Government/large scale corporate working experience desired.  Must be available for escalated issues that fall outside of the core business hours.  Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Public Trust clearance.  Must be US Citizen or US Permanent Resident (green card holder).
