Abacus Technology is seeking an Applications Engineer to support full life cycle software development for the Command, Control, Communication, Intelligence and Networks (C3I&N) Directorate. This is a full-time position.
Advise and support work that involves the design, documentation, development, modification, testing, installation, implementation, and support of new or existing applications software. Analyze and refine systems requirements. Translate systems requirements into applications prototypes. Plan and design systems architecture. Determine and design applications architecture. Determine output media/formats. Design user interfaces. Work with customers to test applications. Assure software and systems quality and functionality. Integrate hardware and software components. Write and maintain program documentation. Evaluate new applications software technologies; and/or ensure the rigorous application of information security/cybersecurity policies, principles, and practices to the delivery of application software services.
Positions available at multiple experience levels including junior (4 years of experience and a Bachelor’s degree), mid (10+ years of experience and a Bachelor’s degree), and senior (12+ years of experience and a Master’s degree). Degree must be in a related field. Additional years of experience may be substituted for degree requirements. In-depth experience with all phases of the software development life cycle and knowledge of a wide array of software languages. Experience with software design and working closely with the end user to verify product will meet business requirements. Capable of working with the network or systems team to ensure proper integration of software applications into the existing infrastructure. Must be detail oriented and have excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities. Requires good communications skills and the ability to work professionally with all levels of an organization. Must be a US citizen.
