Abacus Technology is seeking a Systems Engineer to provide full life cycle support for a cloud environment. This is a full-time position.
DULUTH EIT SERVICES: Abacus Technology is hiring immediately for a recently-awarded large, long-term program. Full Scope Polygraph is required. Abacus has been selected as a subcontractor to provide regional enterprise IT services and devices to the end-user workforce of a large Government agency located across the Northeastern United States. IT Services include campus area networks and local area networks supporting end user desktop/laptop/tablet, phone, printers, copiers, and wireless devices. DULUTH interacts with a Global Service Desk and provides data and status for regional enterprise services.
Support procurement and deployment of Platform Services to enable application portability across the private and public cloud environments. Prepare a hybrid environment for system migration and oversee the future expansion of internal cloud to additional public clouds. In concert with the Government, support standardization of operations in a cloud management environment. Transform Government cloud requirements into appropriate technological alternatives and provides expertise in hybrid virtualization and cloud environments. Consult, plan, analyze designs; develop tests; assure quality; configure, install, implement, integrate, maintain, and manage systems. Work across organizational boundaries, both internally and externally and help to drive the relationship between technical solutions and business needs of customers. Analyze, define, and document customer needs and required functionality. Design, develop, and test theoretical and/or physical models and develop the system design, considering operational impacts, performance, testing, manufacturing, cost and schedule, training, maintenance, and support. Perform system level design trade analysis; review and approve system specifications and description documents; determine how a system is to be built, tested, and implemented; plans the system development execution; and ensures adherence to appropriate standards, policies, principles, and practices. Analyze system capacity and performance to support problem resolution and system enhancements and monitors systems tests. Respond to inquiries from a variety of sources for the purpose of providing technical assistance, consultation, advice and support, and regularly provide advice and recommend actions and solutions involving complex issues.
5+ years experience in a full life cycle systems engineering role including architecture, requirements analysis, process execution and evaluation. At least 3 years experience supporting NSA, CIA, DIA, NGA, and/or NRO. Bachelor’s degree in a related field required; Master’s degree a plus. Security+ or equivalent DoD 8570 IAT-2 or higher certification required. Certifications such as MCSE, MCSA, and/or ITIL v3 highly desirable. Experience in the various aspects of hybrid cloud activities. Experience developing systems, products, and/or processes based on a total systems perspective. Has and maintains a diverse set of skills across multiple technical disciplines with recognized expertise in multiple disciplines and possess advanced knowledge of multiple mature and emerging technologies. Significant experience in the following: designing complex collection systems; integrating systems using multiple operating systems; performing trade-off studies; and/or systems performance analysis. Knowledge of NetApp, NetApp Operations Manager, Cisco VMWare Vsphere, Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft SCCM, Microsoft SCOM, Tivoli, NetApp SnapMirror, Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft VBScript, Microsoft PowerShell, Maxim, and Microsoft SQL Server. Experience in Agile development methodology preferred. Knowledge of CA Application Performance Management (CA APM), Nagios, What’s Up Gold, Zenoss, or Solar Winds a plus. Experience with communications and information security policies and practices. Able to work independently or as part of a team and interact professionally within all levels of an organization. Must be a US citizen and hold an active/current TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph.
