Abacus Technology is seeking a Sr. Network Engineer to provide technical and infrastructure support for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) OneNet program. This is a full-time position.
Develop and support development of test plans and procedures, as applicable, for implementing new or upgrades of LAN/WAN applications, software, data and hardware for pilot implementation and full deployment roll out. Work with the architecture team in conducting proof of concepts tests for new technologies and products and conduct vendor bake offs. Apply Government approved, standardized and consistent systems engineering methods to every network change to ensure reliability, availability, and security of the enterprise. Ensure compliance throughout development, implementation, and maintenance of appropriate security controls, processes and procedures to demonstrate compliance with DHS info assurance, info security and communication security policies. Ensure that DHS OneNet develops the necessary test procedures for Service Requests/Change Requests.
10+ years experience in network development, architecture, and engineering for complex WAN environments. Bachelor’s degree in a related field desired. Must hold the Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification. Experience in all phases of the engineering lifecycle including: requirements; architecture; design; implementation; testing; and operations and maintenance. Thorough knowledge of routers, switches, and firewalls. Able to assess infrastructure, identify areas for improvement, and recommend solutions. Able to provide technical guidance and direction to team members and lower level technicians. Knowledge of relevant server-side tools and technologies. Experience with network monitoring and management using an automated solution. Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining servers and desktops in an enterprise organization. Extensive experience with security as it pertains to network architecture, desktops, laptops, servers, firewalls, routers, and intrusion detection systems (IDS). Solid customer service and communication skills are critical as well as the ability and willingness to communicate effectively and appropriately in an empathetic and understanding manner. Previous experience supporting DHS highly desirable. Must be a US citizen.
