Overview

Abacus is seeking a Help Desk Technician to provide phone or in-person support for a variety of IT issues within an enterprise environment.  This is a full-time position.

Responsibilities

Assist the cabling team in meeting of all project completion schedules, labor and material cost budgets as directed.  Maintain daily time, material and event record for job status information and provides documentation, reports and information to the Cabling Group Manager/Cabling Engineer/Cabling Supervisor as directed.  Ensure quality of workmanship, tracks production and monitors safety procedures.  Ensure the accuracy of time sheets for the team.  Complete any disciplinary actions necessary for any direct reports.  Develop work around procedures for maintaining crew productivity during delays caused by other trades, customer/client, lack of materials or absenteeism in conjunction with the project schedule.  Assist in realizing changes to the scope of work and keeping the management team updated.  Assure and enforce a comprehensive safety program in accordance with the company’s commitment to provide every employee with a safe and healthy work environment.  Complete/perform weekly Safety Coaching Observations in accordance to company policy.

Qualifications

10+ years experience in with installation, termination, and testing procedures and standards.  Must have a High School Diploma or GED.  Must hold a BICSI Technician certification (additional 5 years experience may be substituted for certification).  Must have demonstrated supervisory experience in network or voice/data system installations.  Thorough working knowledge of reading blueprints, specifications and system documentation.  Experience in commonly used installation, termination, testing procedures and standards.  Knowledge of associated hardware, equipment and specifications as they pertain to network topologies and/or telecommunication voice/data systems.  Knowledge of associated hardware, equipment and specifications as they pertain to network topologies and/or telecommunication voice/data systems.  Provide team leadership, in-depth knowledge of termination equipment, methodologies, and splicing techniques.  Must also be familiar with cable termination, testing, cable rack preparation, layout and installation, and documentation.  Able to run a project of at least 7 – 15 personnel with minimal direction from the Cabling Group Manager.  Able to stay current on existing tools and technologies and research emerging trends.  Able to use Microsoft applications (Excel/Word/Outlook) as well as the ability to estimate scheduling of material and labor.  Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.  Must be a US citizen and hold a Top Secret clearance with SCI and Full Scope Polygraph.
