Abacus is seeking a Systems Engineer to provide support for large scale systems, major system elements, and/or interfacing systems. This is a full-time position.
The candidate will contribute to a team of systems engineers in the accomplishment of engineering tasks in an iterative development environment. The candidate will provide technical direction and clarification of requirements to software development teams, and test personnel. The candidate will performs system engineering analyses including trade studies, use case development, requirements definition and derivation, interface definition, and requirement validation and verification. The candidate will support definition of operations concepts and procedure planning / development, interfacing with personnel from other organizations, attend technical interchange meetings with team members and other program personnel, and represent the organization in matters pertaining to the development of his/her project. The candidate will provide status on assigned Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) tasks as required, provide document review and resolve technical systems engineering and integration issues. The candidate will also support ECP efforts as required and must have the ability to manage time and resources in order to meet assigned deadlines.
Provide overall system engineering expertise in the architecture, design, development, requirements analysis, data flow, network design and/or implementation, or testing for the program. Analyze user requirements, concept of operations documents, and high level system architecture to develop system requirements specifications. Develop detailed system architecture and system design documentation. Guide system development and implementation through assessment or preparation of system engineering management plans and system integration and test plans. Develop system configuration documentation, including detailed designs for capacity planning, security systems, and disaster recovery. Function as subject matter expert to solve difficult and challenging Tier III help desk problems.
5+ years experience in a full life cycle systems engineering role including architecture, requirements analysis, process execution and evaluation. At least 3 years experience supporting NSA, CIA, DIA, NGA, and/or NRO. Bachelor’s degree in a related field required; Master’s degree a plus. Security+ or equivalent DoD 8570 IAT-II or higher certification required. Certifications such as MCSE, MCSA, and/or ITIL v3 highly desirable. Experience in the following: Solaris and Linux; Solaris, Linux and Windows utilities and techniques to diagnose and correct performance bottlenecks. Significant experience in the following: designing complex collection systems; integrating systems using multiple operating systems; performing trade-off studies; and/or systems performance analysis. Proficient scripting skills in PowerShell. Knowledge of NetApp, NetApp Operations Manager, Cisco VMWare Vsphere, Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft SCCM, Microsoft SCOM, Tivoli, NetApp SnapMirror, Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft VBScript, Microsoft PowerShell, Maxim, and Microsoft SQL Server. Experience in Agile development methodology preferred. Knowledge of CA Application Performance Management (CA APM), Nagios, What’s Up Gold, Zenoss, or Solar Winds a plus. Experience with communications and information security policies and practices. Able to work independently or as part of a team and interact professionally within all levels of an organization.
