Abacus Technology is seeking a Business Analyst to provide support to full life cycle analysis and software development projects. This is a full-time position to support a contract with a federal client in Washington, DC.
Provide business and systems-related analysis, documentation, implementation, and customer support for a wide range of projects encompassing small to large scale enterprise applications. Support Agile projects, including development of user stories. Develop business and system process and data flow diagrams, sequence diagrams, and other documents related to agile and traditional development. Elicit, capture, and document concepts of operations, business and functional requirements for various enterprise business systems. Define and document the as-is environment, identify improvement opportunities for processes and IT systems, and document the to-be environment. Analyze process flows to identify opportunities for improvement and make recommendations for business process improvements and system solutions. Assist in conducting structured market and alternative analyses of COTS and GOTS systems and prepare analysis reports for senior management decision-making. Prepare cost-benefit analyses and identify and document best value recommendations. Work closely with the development, test, operations, and other teams to upgrade existing and build new systems. Act as the liaison between business users and system developers and engineers. Participate in system integration, configuration management, and quality assurance testing activities. Prepare project plans and controls consistent with approved project scope. Manage deployments and prepare deployment-related documentation. Prepare high quality documentation regarding analysis and recommendations suitable for senior management consumption.
6-8 years of experience with business and system analysis for enterprise level projects. Bachelor’s degree in business or a technical discipline. Experience gathering and documenting business and functional requirements. Experience with structured business, system, and data analysis. Must be proficient in all aspects of the software development life cycle and have an understanding of agile development. Able to adapt to the customer environment and develop an understanding of the business. Comfortable interacting independently and being co-located with clients and end users. Possess a wide range of business and technical skills to assess current state of systems and architecture, as well as future needs. Experience using Visio for flow and process diagrams. Strong written and verbal communication skills suitable for senior management consumption is required. Able to work with business users as well as technical staff. Must be willing to travel internationally if required. Must be a US Citizen and hold a current Secret clearance.
