Abacus Technology is seeking a Sr. SQL Server DBA to provide system administration and database implementation for Windows 2010/2012 and SQL Server 2008/2014. Currently, Abacus is responsible for developing and maintaining industry-facing systems that allow companies to obtain government approval for specific business activities. This is a full-time position supporting the Department of State.
Maintain and administer Windows 2010 and 2012 based virtual and physical servers. Install, harden, monitor, and administer SQL Server databases, including SQL Server 2008 and 2014. Assist in SQL development of end user applications. Upgrade, install, patch, migrate, load balance, administer and troubleshoot Microsoft SQL servers and databases. Make recommendations regarding database capacity, backup strategy, high availability, disaster recovery, performance, and audits. Create SQL Reports and assist with Business Intelligence initiatives. Monitor capacity and load balancing, and request new storage volumes for both SQL and flat file storage. Install applications on new servers and prepare them for production usage.
10+ years experience in an IT position. Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Must be Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) in either Data Platform and Business Intelligence or Data Management and Analytics. Experience in planning, evaluating, directing, tracking, analyzing and coordinating large, complex programs/projects. Experience in the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of database management systems. Knowledge of performance tuning, optimizing, table structures, queries, and database security. Experience with Splunk desired. Experienced with best practices and standards. Solid communication skills are critical. Must have strong customer relationship skills to include being able to set and manage expectations. Must be able to think analytically and demonstrate strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Capable of working and collaborating in a team environment while operating under minimal supervision. Must be a US citizen and hold an active Secret clearance.
