Abacus Technology is seeking a Civil and Facility Engineer to support land, facility, and infrastructure conditions for the CASC program at Lackland AFB. This is a full-time position.
Design construction projects by studying project concept, architectural drawings, and models. Prepares engineering design by collecting and studying reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photographs and tests on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and related topographical and geologic data. Determine project costs by calculating labor, material, and related costs. Prepare feasibility studies by analyzing engineering design; conducting environmental impact studies; assembling data. Prepare engineering documents by developing construction specifications, plans, and schedules. Confirm adherence to construction specifications and safety standards by monitoring project progress; inspecting construction site; verifying calculations and placements. Fulfill project requirements by training and guiding operators. Maintain operations by enforcing project and operational policies and procedures. Provide engineering information by answering questions and requests. Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions. Maintain project database by writing computer programs; entering data; completing backups.
8+ years experience in a civil or facility engineering role. Bachelor’s degree in a related field desired. Must be certified as a Civil Engineer, Engineer, or Facility Manager. Able to apply principles, concepts, and methods of real property planning, real estate management and master planning methodology. Experience analyzing current land, facility and infrastructure conditions and extrapolating future requirements. Familiar with the employment and use of databases, computer assisted design (CAD) and geographical information systems (GIS) software in support of real property planning and real estate management. Experience in determination of resource needs, allocation of resources, and budgeting/funding needs. Knowledge of planning principles; to include ability to comprehend complex problems, coordinate multiple sources of information and develop succinct plans that achieve strategic goals, meet end user requirements, and anticipate facility and infrastructure development needs. Must have solid communications skills and be capable of working with all levels of an organization. Must be a US Citizen and hold an active Top Secret clearance with SCI.
