Abacus Technology is seeking a Software Developer to provide software and application support for the Headquarters IT Support Services (HITSS) program at NASA Headquarters. This is a full-time position.
Research, design, develop, prototype, re-engineer, maintain, and/or modify enterprise-wide systems and/or applications software. Analyze users’ needs, then design, test, and develop software to meet needs. Involved in planning of system and development deployment as well as responsible for meeting software compliance standards. Create flowcharts and other models that instruct programmers how to write the software’s code. Ensure the software continues to function normally through software maintenance and testing. Evaluate interface between hardware and software, operational requirements, and characteristics of overall system. Document application or system as a reference for future testing and maintenance of system corrections.
Positions available at multiple experience levels including entry (0-2 years), intermediate (2-5 years), senior (5-11 years), specialist (11-16 years), and senior specialist (16+years). Bachelor’s degree in a related field; Master’s or graduate degree may be substituted for 2 years of experience. Must be Lean Six Sigma certified. Must have or be willing to attend training in the following areas: CMMI; cybersecurity and sensitive unclassified information awareness; IT security awareness; and NASA elevate privileges. Understanding of software development principles, theories, and concepts. Able to provide solutions to a variety of software problems. At the specialist and senior specialist levels, must be able to develop and manage complex solutions with minimal supervision or guidance and handle a wide degree of latitude. At the specialist level, capable of representing the organization as prime technical contact on contracts and projects. At the senior specialist level, able to serve as the organization spokesperson on projects and/or programs and act as an advisor to management and customers on advanced technical research studies and applications. Solid communication skills are critical. Must be a US citizen and hold an active Secret clearance.
