Overview

Abacus Technology is seeking a Sr. Voice/Data Communications Engineer to provide operational support for telecommunications systems at Buckley AFB.  This is a full-time position.

Responsibilities

Provide technical direction and engineering knowledge for communications activities including planning, designing, developing, testing, installing and maintaining large communications networks.  Ensure that adequate and appropriate planning is provided to direct building architects and planners in building communications spaces and media pathways meet industry standards.  Develop, operate, and maintain voice, wireless, video, and data communications systems.  Provide complex engineering or analytical tasks and activities associated with one or more technical areas within the communications function. 

Qualifications

6+ years experience in a network/system engineering role working with all facets of physical network infrastructure.  Bachelor’s degree in a related field desired.  Work-related certifications a plus.  Must have solid in-depth knowledge and experience with switches and routers.  Must be able to provide technical guidance and assistance to team members, superiors, and users.  Excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively and appropriately in an empathetic and understanding manner.  Experience in the areas of infrastructure engineering, sustainment engineering, performance engineering, and mission support.  Able to maintain current knowledge and skills through in-services, workshops, and/or seminars.  Demonstrate flexibility in adjusting to variable workload and job duties.  Able to plan and implement projects without supervision.  Must be a US citizen.
