Abacus Technology is seeking a CAD Operator to develop and maintain drawings and schematics for the IT Operations Support Services (ITOSS) program within the Office of the CIO for DHS Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency.  This is a full-time position.


  • Create and update drawings of all IT circuits, lines, and systems in the CAD program to facilitate centralized management of all data and records associated with information systems installations architectures.
  • Maintain a web-based information database composed of complex maps, cable/fiber configurations, network devices, digital and hard copy sketches, diagrams, drawings, photographs, databases, and tables configured in a database management system.
  • Maintain all site drawings in final CAD format and maintain drawing files in a printable format and translate drawings to other formats.
  • Maintain an electronic and hard copy Plant-in-Place drawing library and update the related TMS asset management database.
  • Maintain the site cable/fiber plant and equipment layout drawings IAW commercial and local practices.
  • Make all necessary and applicable changes and updates to the site cable plant drawings as they occur.
  • Update and maintain all OSP, ISP, and remote communications facilities drawings in the CAD system.
  • Assist customers with software issues and instructions so they may access the data.


5+ years’ experience in a CAD role.  Associates Degree in a related field desired.  Able to review and assess site and equipment layout drawings for all locations.  Able to utilize plotters and scanners; follow circuit paths, circuit diagrams, schematic cable and fiber runs, and engineering drawings; and identify circuit components.  Must be detail oriented and maintain documentation related to projects.  Able to work independently or as part of a team and communicate efficiently with all levels of an organization.  Previous experience supporting DHS highly desirable.  Must be a US citizen.
