Abacus Technology is seeking a Network Engineer for unclassified and classified network support under the Kirtland C4 Services Contract at Kirtland AFB.  This is a full-time position.


Support deployment and sustainment of network equipment (routers and switches) and provide systems engineering support for the NIPR, SIPR and JWICs enclaves.  Perform technical documentation review, technical and operational networking support, and review of contractor and vendor documentation.  Work as part of a team or independently to solve problems.  Troubleshoot network issues, provide subject matter expertise on TCP/IP routing and subnetting of local and wide area networks, MPLS, IPsec, VPNs.  Perform functional analysis, detailed network trade studies, requirements specification and allocation and interface definition studies to translate operational requirements into hardware and software specifications.  Apply industry best practices in IT Security, Systems Engineering, and Integration and Testing.  Work with system integrators on Use Case development and execution, PIRs and CIRs, and contractor technical product reviews.  Ensure that all system functional requirements are successfully acquired, validated, and tested.  Provide support for generation, review, approval, and implementation of change modification proposals using the Remedy/EITSM system for accuracy, completeness, and remediation.  Provide detailed knowledge of systems engineering in support of IT system definition, integration, test, maintenance, and security certification and accreditation. Provide general system engineering tasks including: review of integration test plans, procedures and data; support special studies to define alternative interface/integration approaches; and review Technical Orders, Time Compliant TOs, and other official technical documentation.  Coordinate project activities with contractors, other program office organizations, MAJCOMs, supporting agencies, and other military services.



3-5 years experience designing, implementing, operating, and maintaining large scale enterprise IT/Network Topologies/Security systems (Routing, MPLS, VPNs, SSL/TLS, Firewalls, IPS/IDS, Proxies) and testing/implementing security patches.  Bachelor’s degree in a related field; Master’s or graduate degree preferred.  Must be Security+ certified (or hold an equivalent or higher level certification according to DoD 8570 requirements.  Must also hold (or be able to obtain within 6 months of start date) at least one of the following certifications: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Brocade Certified Network Engineer (BCNE), Juniper Networks Certified Associate (JNCIA), and/or Forescout System Administration (FCSA).  Advanced certifications such as CCIE, CISSP, etc. highly desirable.  Demonstrated network engineering experience and troubleshooting skills with routing and MPLS VPN technologies.  Demonstrated knowledge of leading edge networking technologies, devices, and products including Cisco routers, NextGen Firewalls/Palo Alto, Juniper routers, Cisco/Juniper/Brocade switches, and VPN devices.  Demonstrated knowledge of leading edge server technologies, devices, and products including Windows Server.    Experience with DIACAP, Risk Management Framework (RMF), and DoD 8500.1 highly desired.  Experience in the AF IT field or Network Operations Centers is highly desired.  Knowledge of security and network management technologies, devices and products including SIEM (e.g. Cisco LMS), Solarwinds, and/or web proxies, McAfee IPS/IDS.  Hands on experience with Routing and Switching WAN/LAN.  Experience installing, configuring, maintaining, and testing in a lab or QA position.  Able to troubleshoot issues with Active Directory, Group Policy, Windows 8/10, and virtual network environments.  Understanding of SOA and virtualization technologies such as VMware, ESX/vCenter/vSphere, NAS/SAN, and Blade.  Experience with military communications, IT Networking, & Network Operations standards and technologies.  Knowledge and experience preparing and implementing AF Technical Orders and Time Compliant Technical Orders (TCTO).  Knowledge of AF communications and AF IT infrastructure.  Must have good verbal and written communication skills.  Must be able to perform work involving the exploration of subject area, definition of scope, and selection of problem investigation areas.  Must be able to apply intensive and diverse knowledge to problems and make independent decisions.  Possesses and applies a comprehensive knowledge across key tasks and assignments.  Must have proven interpersonal team communication skills and have experience presenting to large groups.  Must have demonstrated knowledge of large scale IT networks and network boundary devices, to include experience in network boundary upgrade planning and sustainment.  Must be a US Citizen and hold a current Secret clearance.
