Abacus Technology is seeking a Telephone Technician to install and maintain the telecommunication network on Kirtland AFB.  This is a full-time position.


Install and maintain voice and data networks through the installation, termination, testing, and activation of LAN cabling and telecommunication end devices, to include VoIP devices.  Properly route all cabling through the use of new or existing cable trays or cable hooks.  Test cable path and install security, fire alarms, and other DS0 circuits.  Work from customer submitted work orders.  Coordinate with the customer to ensure the required services are installed and operational.  Document cable installation by labeling patch panels and cables; recording configuration diagrams.  Maintain safe work environment by following codes, standards, and legal regulations.


5+ years experience in the telecommunications and networking fields.  Must be Security+ certified and hold a valid driver’s license.  BICSI Certification and Telephone Journeyman License JS7 – New Mexico preferred.  Knowledge of telecommunications systems and practices.  Able to understand and carry out oral and written instructions, meet with the customer tactfully and courteously and establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with customers and coworkers.  Able to communicate and work without supervision and minimal guidance.  Must have excellent oral and written communications skills and superior organizational skills for planning and prioritizing work.  Able to meet physical requirements of the position such as climbing ladders, standing, bending, and lifting for duration of the duty day.  Willing to provide on-call, weekend, and after-hours support as necessary.  Must be a US citizen.
