Abacus Technology is in need of a System Engineer to provide technical support for the Command, Control, Communication, Intelligence and Networks (C3I&N) Directorate at Lackland AFB. This is a full-time position.
Provide engineering support on space COMSEC test systems, engineering consultation to satellite integrators during product integration, and engineering acquisition management during space COMSEC acquisition and sustainment phases. Develop space COMSEC devices and associated test systems. Plan, test, evaluate, and report on security appliances and cryptographic devices. Articulate project/program/initiatives status during technical interchange meetings and during high visibility briefings. Provide Air Force and DoD customer base technical assistance and recommendations on information assurance (IA) systems acceptance. Perform development, operational, and interoperability testing of NSA Type 1 certified cryptographic devices (Space COMSEC). Work with government program managers and lead engineer of project/program/initiatives within Space Acquisition branch, to plan, test, evaluate, and report on cryptographic devices. Interface with Hanscom AFB senior authorities as well as Center Test Authority personnel. Collaborate with engineering personnel in the National Security Agency (NSA), National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), Department of Energy (DoE), USAF Space and Missile Center (SMC), Air Force Space Command (AFSPC) and Air Force Research Labs (AFRL) to determine the best course of action on critical cryptographic engineering problems.
5+ years experience in a system engineering role. Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Knowledge of cryptographic standards and NSA cryptographic equipment certification process. Experience with Linux and Windows operating systems; IP based telecommunications protocols; and symmetric and asymmetric use in web services. Experience with SPACE COMSEC (AVE and GOE). COMSEC and INFOSEC knowledge and application techniques experience. Familiar with Cryptologic Key Loaders and data transfer devices. Must be a Subject Matter Expert with software/hardware devices employing software intensive encryption algorithms for secure transmission of information. Able to communicate with management, technical staff, and end users in a clear and professional manner. Experience with engineering practices, techniques, and standards. Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to develop and present technical presentations. Able to represent complex data in diagrams or through other techniques that communicate precise information to both business and technical staff. Proven ability to understand the strategic and tactical approach to projects and handle multiple projects concurrently. Must be a US citizen.
