Abacus is seeking a Network Security Engineer to provide network monitoring, firewalls, and vulnerability assessments for enterprise level networks within the Intelligence Community. This is a full-time position.
This is a prospective position that we’ve posted with the intention of building a pipeline of candidates based on submitted proposals and pending contract awards.
Design/redesign, build, and upgrade LANs and WANs. Support capacity planning, performance engineering, and troubleshooting. Develop, test, and implement new LAN/WAN applications and hardware. Oversee configuration and versioning management; baselining and documenting configurations. Analyze and resolve LAN/WAN and mainframe communication issues. Provide guidance for development and improvement of network capabilities. Evaluate, test, and document network software releases and hardware upgrades. Provide Tier 3 support, including maintenance of data center network-related hardware, software, and network tools.
5+ years experience in a network administration or engineering role with experience supporting network security. At least 3 years experience supporting NSA, CIA, DIA, NGA, and/or NRO. Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Security+ or equivalent DoD 8570 IAT-2 or higher certification required. Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, MCSE, CISSP, GCIH, and/or ITIL v3 highly desirable. Hands-on experience with physical network infrastructure (switches, routers). Must have experience with network design, implementation, deployment, and maintenance. Knowledge of SNMP, Cisco, Brocade, Juniper, Asante, routers and switches. Experience with common network management tools such as Solar Winds, HP Business Technology Optimization (BTO), HP OpenView, Nagios, ArchSite security information and event management (SIEM) and What’s Up Gold. Experience with Certification and Accreditation (C&A). Extensive knowledge of TCP/IP protocol suite, routing technologies, VOIP, IP-based network communication, firewalls, VPNs, and IPSEC. Experience performing vulnerability scans. Familiar with tools such as Lumension, Patchlink, MacAfee Vulnerability Manager, KACE appliance, port scanner, eEye Retina Digital Security, and/or Nessus. Able to maintain current knowledge and skills through in-services, workshops, and/or seminars. Demonstrate flexibility in adjusting to variable workload and job duties. Able to plan and implement projects without supervision. Knowledge of communications and information security policies and practices. Able to work independently or as part of a team and interact professionally within all levels of an organization. Experience with common network management tools such as Solar Winds, HP Business Technology Optimization (BTO), HP OpenView, Nagios, ArchSite security information and event management (SIEM) and What’s Up Gold. Must hold a current Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility (TS/SCI).
